After more than 20 years in Minnesota and eight years in Inver Grove Heights, I've seen firsthand what makes this community special. My family chose to live here because we believed in its future. Unfortunately, recent decisions by our local leaders have moved us further from realizing that potential. It's time for leadership that puts residents first, embraces accountability, and focuses on the priorities that matter most to our community. That's why I'm running for City Council.
Small businesses are the heart of our local economy, and they deserve a seat at the table. Our city should actively support entrepreneurs and local business owners by creating an environment where they can start, grow, and succeed. Economic development shouldn't be focused solely on attracting large chains. We need a strategy that invests in homegrown businesses as well.
Local government's responsibility is to serve the people, not itself. I am committed to transparency, accountability, and open communication. I will be honest about how and why decisions are made, and I will hold both myself and other elected officials accountable for the outcomes. Some decisions will be difficult, but residents deserve leaders who listen, explain their reasoning, and never lose sight of who they work for.
Recent events and divisive debates have left many residents feeling uncertain about whether they belong and are valued in our community. As a city, we have a responsibility to foster a culture where every resident feels welcome, respected, and safe. I support initiatives that bring neighbors together and reinforce a simple message: Inver Grove Heights is a community for everyone, regardless of where you come from, who you love, or your faith. Our diversity is a strength, and every resident deserves to know they belong here.
It's time to get back to basics. Residents expect safe roads, strong schools, and reliable city services before they expect flashy new projects. I believe our budget should reflect those priorities. Before spending millions on large capital initiatives, we must ensure we're investing in the everyday needs that matter most to the people who call this city home.
